Dear Eltham Redbacks Community,
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has challenged us all in ways we could not have imagined. As these are difficult times for many in our community, we encourage you all to take a moment and reach out and support one another. We hope everyone is well and safe during this testing time.
On behalf of the committee at ERFC, firstly we would like to thank you for your patience while we tried to get many of our competitions back onto the pitch. It was an extraordinary collective community effort by all. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond our control have halted the planned state-wide resumption of football as we knew it by introducing a further lockdown across the state of Victoria. As we have already witnessed, this lockdown has, and will continue to do so, severely impact all aspects of our lives including family life, work, mental health/well-being, and sport (among many other things). It has been a time like no other and never before has our community been so determined to do the right thing.
After the latest lockdown announcement, the ERFC committee are now resigned to acknowledge that the planned 2020 season will not recommence after stage 4 restrictions are lifted. We would therefore like to offer our Redbacks members the following options in relation to the administration of the registration fees paid for the 2020 season:
1. Donation of registration fees to the soccer club.
This pandemic will have and has had a significant financial impact on all sporting clubs, officials, administrators, associations, etc across Victoria – as a not for profit community sporting club, Eltham Redbacks is no exception to such financial strain. We have already incurred and are still incurring expenses for the season and have had no capacity to earn income. If you are willing to donate a portion of your fees or all of your fees to the club we would appreciate such support. The donation would be the balance of the fees paid to the club less the Football Victoria (FV) fees and operational charges, we are waiting on the FV to communicate what this will be for the 2020 season in the near future.
2. Credit of registration fees towards the 2021 season or activities/tournaments we may hold later this year.
The credit would be the balance of the fees paid to the club less the FV fees and operational charges, we are waiting on the FV to communicate what this will be for the 2020 season in the near future. The balance would be credited towards the registration fees for next season. We are hoping to see as many players back in 2021 as we had registered this year. Alternatively if we hold summer tournaments, programs, gala days or the like later this year when restrictions have eased, you can use this credit towards those programs. Whilst we can’t guarantee these will go ahead, we are optimistic and excited to get as many players back on the pitch at whatever capacity and timeframe we can during the warmer months.
3. Refund of registration fees.
The refund would be the balance of the fees paid to the club less the FV fees and operational charges, we are waiting on the FV to communicate what this will be for the 2020 season in the near future. The balance would be refunded to you once this is confirmed.
We are expecting the FV to announce the portion of the registration/affiliation fees they will be refunding to members over the course of the next 1-2 weeks. Upon receiving that information, we will then send another email to all our members with the donation/credit/refund amount and the next steps for the administration of the 2020 fees paid.
As you can appreciate given the size of the club, we would appreciate families considering options 1 and/or 2 if your personal situation permits. We understand everyone’s situation is different and these are trying times for all. We thank you again for your patience and consideration of such options. We also hope to see you all back at the club once this is over so we can celebrate sport and have all our members reunite with friends and teammates in the Eltham Redbacks community spirit.
PLEASE NOTE, the above options do not apply to the following groups:
The JBNPL 2020 season has currently not been suspended by Football Victoria. Post lockdown we will seek clarification from Football Victoria and will be in contact with players/parents in this group.
The Saturday Program Coordinator (Andrew) will be in contact with this group when Victoria eases Stage 4 restrictions.
