Update – Eltham Redbacks Football 2020 Season

To the Eltham Redbacks football community,

Eltham Redbacks wants to acknowledge the people, families and communities that have been affected by this terrible disease.

The Club continues to do its part to aid the collective efforts to arrest the spread of COVID-19. If you’ve been down at Eltham North Reserve recently, you will have seen signs around the ground asking you to maintain physical distancing measures. If you use any of the Club’s grounds for exercising, please exercise in compliance with public gathering requirements.

Football Suspension Extended

Football Victoria (FV), in line with advice from Football Federation Australia (FFA), has announced the temporary suspension on all competitions and football activities has been extended until 31st May 2020. At that time, a decision will be made about whether football can resume, or whether the temporary suspension will be extended further.

Planning for the Future

Some of you may have seen our Instagram post earlier this week of the Committee working hard behind the scenes on planning the future of the Club. We have implemented several initiatives that will provide the platform for football to bounce back quickly when the time comes. We recognise that the best chance of everyone getting through this is to maintain our sense of community and family so these initiatives are designed to ensure we can all remain engaged and connected through the game we all love. We hope that you can maximise your use of these programs to ensure you remain fit, healthy and happy so that when football eventually resumes, you are ready.

Our At Home Training Program developed by Miniroos Boys Head Coach – Pat O’Connor – for all Redbacks players aged 3-18 years old to stay active and develop their football skills was launched via Team Managers and Coaches on 24th March.

In addition, our At Home Fitness Program developed by Club physio– for everyone to keep fit was launched via Team Managers and Coaches on 27th March.

Your TM and/or Coach should by now have been in touch with you with details of both programs.

The Club is currently also developing an At Home Coaching Development Course for all coaches. Details will be forwarded soon.

Working Together

Eltham Redbacks FC, since its inception in 1967, has been built on the very foundations of member registrations and sponsorship contributions. These financial inputs are the very lifeblood of the club that allows it to exist and provide all our members the opportunity to kick a ball on the park with their teammates in a safe, friendly environment.

For this reason, it is important that we all continue to work together for the benefit of the game and the Club. Now more than ever, we need your on-going support and assistance to manage the many challenges facing the Redbacks. By working together and continuing to support each other we will get through this and emerge stronger on the other side.

Again, thank you for your patience during this very difficult time. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep all our members updated as information is received.

Stay healthy and safe.
